Reporting

We are committed to protecting and improving the environment, so we need to make sure that our entire business understands what is required and that we work together successfully to achieve our environmental goals. In addition, we have to make sure we have the correct measures in place to recognise and deal with all environmental risks.

TGB Environmental Policy - Toyota GB’s Environmental Policy is a formal expression of how we can go about achieving the aims we present in the Toyota CSR Policy, Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 and TGB 5 Year Environmental Action Plan. Renewed in 2023, it is the foundation stone for the way we manage environmental matters throughout our business.

The policy includes our pledge to support the reduction to zero CO2 emissions at every stage of a vehicle’s lifecycle, to cut waste, reduce energy consumption and the amount of natural resources we use and to protect and enhance biodiversity in order to operate in harmony with nature. This is supported by our commitment to continuous improvement in environmental performance, energy usage and compliance with legal standards. We also seek to share our experience and encourage others to be aware of environmental issues and find effective ways of dealing with them.

ISO14001 - The International Organisation for Standardisation provides a globally recognised certificate for businesses and organisations that meet its standards for Environmental Management. ISO 14001, covers many different aspects, including the implementation of an environmental policy, the setting of objectives and targets, training and awareness and regular performance reviews.

We value ISO 14001 and the tools it provides, which support our commitment to continual improvement in our environmental performance.

Toyota Motor Corporation Sustainability Data Book - Our Sustainability Data Book explains Toyota Global initiatives related to the Environment, Society and Governance. It summarizes Toyota’s approach to sustainability, policy and details activities & performance from the previous fiscal year.

  • Carbon Trust

In 2010, Toyota GB’s commitment to lower carbon emissions at its headquarters gained official recognition from the Carbon Trust for their environmental ambitions and performance. This achievement made us the first vehicle distributor in the UK to receive the Carbon Trust Standard.

We’ve been certified every 2 years since, improving innovation, processes and investment into energy saving initiatives in order to reduce CO2 year on year.

  • Environmental Objectives

Our 5 Year Environmental Action Plan from 2021-2025 provides a strategy for enhancing our environmental performance, fulfilling compliance obligation and minimising environmental risk whilst working towards the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050.

  • LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT (LCA)

With our Eco-Vehicle Assessment System (Eco-VAS) we go beyond the usual LCA by evaluating the environmental impact of our vehicles right from resource extraction through to production, use, recycling and disposal. We have been carrying out Life Cycle Assessments of our vehicles since 1997. Every new generation vehicle achieves a better environmental performance than its predecessor. Toyota’s LCA methodology was reviewed and approved by the independent body of TÜV Rheinland and has been certified to comply with ISO 14040/14044 standards.
