More than two decades after a famous television stunt challenged the toughness of the Hilux, Toyota has put the latest generation to the test by dropping a caravan weighing more than three quarters of a tonne directly onto the vehicle.

The Internet Decided the Challenge
Rather than choosing the test itself, Toyota handed the decision over to the online community.
Reddit users across the UK were invited to vote on which challenge the new electric Hilux should face:
- A one-tonne wrecking ball
- A full-size caravan drop
After hundreds of votes, the caravan drop emerged as the clear winner.
Toyota then set out to recreate the iconic stunt and discover whether the latest Hilux could live up to its legendary reputation.
The Caravan Drop
At Bentwaters Airfield in Suffolk, a caravan weighing more than 760kg was suspended above the All-New electric Hilux before being released directly onto the vehicle.
Following the impact, engineers inspected the Hilux and assessed the damage.
Despite the dramatic collision, the vehicle powered up and drove away from the test site, demonstrating the impressive durability engineered into the newest generation Hilux.
