Toyota is the Which? Car
Brand of the Year 2021

Which? has named Toyota the Car Brand of the Year for a second year successively.

The Which? Chief Executive, Anabel Hoult, said: “For the second year running, we are delighted to award Which? Car Brand of the Year to Toyota.”

The Which? judging panel commented: “Toyota remains a firm favourite of UK car buyers. Its affordable and diverse range of models are rated highly for overall reliability, while its commitment to hybrid technology has proved popular with buyers looking to improve their car’s environmental impact, without the impracticalities of a full electric vehicle.”

“As well as having a continued commitment to Hydrogen fuel-cell technology as an alternative to battery electric vehicles – with this year’s launch of the second-generation Mirai saloon – Toyota has announced its first BEV, due for launch next year.”

Mark Roden, Toyota (GB) Operations Director, said: “To gain this recognition from Which? for a second year is an achievement everyone at Toyota can be proud of. We work in a highly competitive industry, where every brand is constantly seeking ways to innovate and improve their products and service to customers. The fact Toyota has again been honoured by Which? reflects the quality, appeal and value of our vehicles – in particular our hybrid and plugin hybrid electric models. It also acknowledges the peace of mind provided by our after sales operations and new up to 10-year Relax warranty programme – a ground-breaking first for the UK market.”

In 2020, Toyota was one of only three manufactures to achieve the top five-star rating for both cars aged from new to three years old and three to eight years old in the survey of the UK’s most reliable car brands.

This is the 15th year of the Which? Awards. The winners are chosen by an expert panel and are based on the results of thousands of product tests and feedback from customers.
