Toyota AdBlueTM

Here at Toyota we are always improving, always looking at new ways we can move forward in everything we do. From safety to economy, from comfort to innovation, we are committed to making what we make better, including the environment.

In fact, our latest (Euro 6) diesel engines – fitted in Hilux, Land Cruiser and PROACE models – all use AdBlue™, a highly advanced diesel exhaust fluid that helps to reduce harmful emissions.

If you’d like to find out more, have AdBlue™ added to your engine or you’d like us to check your levels, book your appointment in now.

What AdBlue™ does (and how it does it)

Red tick    Cuts harmful emissions
AdBlue™ reduces Nitrogen Oxide emissions produced by diesel engines every time you drive

Red tick   Won’t affect performance
It’s a non-toxic solution that’s harmless and easy to use, and doesn't impact on your car’s performance

Red tick    Meets new standards
The Euro 6 emissions standard came into force in 2016 and AdBlue™ helps meet these new emission levels

Red tick    Efficient and convenient
Only really small amounts of AdBlue™ are used as you drive, so in most cases it can be refilled at regular service intervals

Refilling AdBlue™

After a refill, you can drive for about 9,000 miles before the supply of AdBlue™ runs out (although this is an average figure, it really depends on driving conditions, how you drive etc). You can then refill it yourself, or ask your nearest Toyota Authorised Repairer to help.

How to refill AdBlue™ yourself

Make sure your Toyota is parked on a level surface, turn the engine off and open the bonnet.

Find and remove the AdBlue™ tank cap.

Insert a bottle of AdBlue™ and fully tighten it.

Push down on the bottle and begin to refill. Do this slowly so it doesn’t spill and don’t remove the bottle until it’s empty.*

Check that nothing is left in the bottle and then remove it.

Repeat steps 3-5 until approximately 3.8L or more of AdBlue™ has been added.

When full, close the AdBlue™ tank cap (make sure you hear a click when you do this) and then check that the engine starts. This may take a few seconds longer than normal.

*Please ensure that none of the liquid is spilt onto the bodywork as it can cause damage.
