Most people choose to charge their electric car at home for convenience, and efficiency. You will rarely need to visit a service station with an electric car, and when needed on longer journeys, you can charge at a public charger.
Electric cars can be cheaper to run than a conventional car, especially when it comes to fuelling them. Most people charge their car at home or work the majority of the time which not only saves money, it’s convenient too.

Charging an electric vehicle is easy and you can charge whilst you are at home, or at a growing number of locations when travelling.
There are three methods of charging for battery electric vehicles.
Rapid & Ultra Rapid (25kW to 100+kW)
The fastest way to charge your battery electric vehicle. There are over 9,000** public rapid and ultra rapid chargers across the UK.
Fast (7kW to 22kW)
Much faster than a normal plug, dedicated EV chargers can be installed at home or found in many public and workplace car parks.
Slow (3-6kW)
You can even charge your vehicle through a domestic 3-pin plug socket which can be convenient although this is a slower way to charge.

Charging is easy, and when you buy a Toyota full battery electric vehicle, or plug-in hybrid, two cables will be included:
3 Pin Plug cable which is used for slow charging with a 3 pin plug at home.
32A Type A Mennekes cable which is used for fast charging at home with a dedicated EV charger or when you are using a fast public charger.
When you use a public rapid charger to charge your electric vehicle, the charger will have a cable fitted already, and you simply need to plug it into your vehicle.
Just like any other vehicle, the range of an EV varies between make and model. The maximum range of our electric vehicles is impressive, our All-New bZ4X for example has a range of up to 318 miles^^.
As with any vehicle, however it is powered, the range also depends on a number of factors such as weather and driving style.
As with all vehicles, electric vehicles can only drive a limited distance before they need refuelling. you will see clear indicators if your battery is running low, providing ample time for you to find somewhere to recharge.
Public EV chargers can be found in a growing number of places, including service stations, and public carparks.
To make charging whilst you are on the move even easier, we have introduced the Toyota Public Charging Network giving you a simple way to charge at thousands of charge points across the UK without having to set up alternative payment methods, or download multiple apps.
The charging time depends on how and where you are charging your EV.
At home, you can conveniently charge your vehicle using a dedicated EV charger, or even a domestic plug socket.
Rapid chargers are the fastest way to charge your vehicle when you are traveling, and these can be commonly found at service stations, with the ability to charge your car quickly and efficiently whilst you have a break from driving and grab a coffee.
Company cars are taxed based on their CO2 emissions. For the 23/24 tax year, the BIK rate for fully electric cars is just 2%, meaning that choosing a bZ4X as your company car could mean you pay as little as £31 per month in company car tax^.
