Winter Driving Tips

We're committed to keeping you and your Toyota as safe as possible. As temperatures begin to drop, it’s important to ensure your car is ready for any necessary winter journeys. Snowfall and icy conditions can cause trouble when you’re hitting the road, so here are our tips for seeing your Toyota through the winter safely.

Windscreen Wipers and Screenwash

Check your windscreen wipers for tears, then give your windscreen a thorough clean. Make sure you top up your screen washer fluid with antifreeze too.

Battery

If you have an old battery, the cold weather may make your vehicle unable to start. Installing a fresh, new battery will help ensure you don’t get stuck at home or stranded elsewhere.

Brakes

In icy temperatures, you need an effective braking system. If you have any concerns about your brakes or stopping distance, come and see the experts. And make sure you swap out low-tread tyres for winter tyres, too.

Benefits of Winter Tyres

Snow

Winter tyres have lots of small grooves, called sipes, in the treat block that ‘bite’ into snow and slush, providing better grip and reducing braking distances.

Below 7°C

Thanks to special tread patterns and more supple compounds, winter tyres provide superior grip and reduced braking distances when temperature fall below 7°C.

Ice

The softer compounds and special tread patterns mean winter tyres are also less likely to slip on icy roads, too. So pop them on when it turns icy to keep yourself safer.
Braking distance

Snow braking distance from speed of 25mph.

Stay safer with winter tyres

Winter tyres provide superior grid on cold, wet, snowy, and icy roads.
