Like the athletes themselves, we rely on innovation to help keep us out in front, so we’ll be doing our best to support the championships in the most innovative ways we can.
Toyota are Proud Partners of the World Para Athletics Championships and IAAF World Championships
We’re very pleased to be bringing our innovation – and a few cars – to support this year’s biggest sporting events, the World Para Athletics Championships and the IAAF World Championships. Look out for our fleet of hybrids and the hydrogen-powered Mirai running around London this summer.
The athletics championships will see 200 countries, more than half a million spectators and over 2000 of the world’s best athletes descend on London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park over the course of a month.
The World Para Athletics Championships take place from the 14th to 23rd July, swiftly followed by the IAAF World Championships from the 4th to 13th August.
Look out for team Toyota running around at both, and pop in to see us at our event stand in the Hero Village.
A fleet of over 130 Toyota hybrids and drivers will be on hand throughout the championships to get the athletes to wherever they need to be, using less fuel and emitting less CO2.
The fleet is also fitted with the Toyota Safety Sense systems to ensure our drivers keep both their highly-motivated passengers and some highly excited spectators safe and sound, as well as our brand new Telematics Devices which track how much time the car spends running in electric mode so our drivers can optimise each journey.
We’re providing the timing car at both the women’s and men’s marathon events, as well as the Race Walk. Toyota Mirai is the world's first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell car vehicle which only emits water from its tailpipe.
Colin Jackson, Sally Gunnell and Jonathan Edwards paid four fans a surprise visit to deliver the very first sets of tickets to the events – expertly delivered in the new Toyota C-HR.
As part of our commitment to furthering investment and support for women in sport, we are once again sponsoring all the female athletes' bibs.
We will also provide a cash prize fund for any female athlete who breaks an existing World Record in the course of the IAAF World Championships 2017.
