New Toyota Yaris GRMN

More than just a simple hot hatch, the new Yaris GRMN is a performance model that directly benefits from the engineering developments and tuning skills in Toyota’s motorsport programme.

Hot off the tracks

Toyota’s new Yaris GRMN made a stunning impact at this year’s Geneva Motor Show - and for very good reason.

Powered by a new 1.8-litre supercharged engine producing more than 205bhp, the GRMN (standing for Gazoo Racing tuned by “Meister of Nürburgring”) promises speed, poise and rich driver rewards.

The Yaris GRMN is not just a hot hatch but a highly tuned car, influenced the Yaris WRC that marks Toyota’s return to the 2017 FIA World Rally Championship with Toyota Gazoo Racing. With supercharged engine, sports suspension and performance brakes, the new Yaris GRMN will be the hottest car on sale in the UK in early 2018.

Supercharged performance

The Yaris GRMN is unique in the European hot hatch market thanks to a sensational supercharged 1.8-litre engine producing more than 205bhp.

All this power is delivered to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission creating ‘best-in-class’ times, both for the sprint from 0 to 62mph, and acceleration from 50 to 75mph in fourth gear.

Extensive testing on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife and input from Toyota Gazoo Racing’s motorsport activities combined with a reinforced chassis plus additional bracing mean better traction and handling so the car hugs the ground more closely and ensure all its power is translated into a rewarding drive.

Racy looks

Offered only in three-door form, the Yaris GRMN rides on 17-inch BBS multi-spoke alloys and is fitted with a bespoke, black wing-type rear spoiler.

Features include front and rear bumper designs, a rear diffuser and a distinctive centre exhaust tailpipe, sports seats and small-diameter, leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The GRMN model will carry the eye-catching white, red and black flash detailing on the bonnet and sills reflecting colours of the WRC car.

Motorsport influence

Performance features, both in exterior styling and a driver-focused interior, display the car’s sporting qualities. You can see the inspiration from it's fully fledged WRC rally ready model below.

First of its kind

European teams designed the Yaris GRMN as well as developing its engine and interior, while the chassis and braking system were created in Japan. All production will be handled by Toyota Motor Manufacturing France at its Valenciennes based factory.

Successful GRMN models have been marketed in Japan before but the Yaris GRMN will be the first on sale in Europe.
