Among the many initiatives we take part in, one of the most important is helping prepare the next generation for their first forays into adult life. In particular, the interview process. TGB have provided support across three separate programs with the ultimate aim to put young people in front of business personnel.
We work with the Beacon School, situated local to Head Office, as part of our ambition to support youth employment. Volunteers from TGB have run interview workshops with the students, providing realistic interview experiences in a supportive and constructive environment.
Moreover, we have a relationship with SPEAR, an award-winning employment initiative. They provide a comprehensive training course that prepares young people with the skills needed to not just find employment, but also succeed in it. We have run training days with SPEAR students at Head Office, providing help with their CVs and presentation skills.
The National Citizen Service (NCS) work with young people aged 15 to 17 from different backgrounds to help build skills for work life and the transition to adulthood. At its heart is the unfailing belief that, given the tools, respect and opportunity, young people can use their energy and talent to change the world around them for the better.
NCS is an intensive, part residential programme that takes place in the summer holidays over three weeks and consists of three challenges; Adventure, Skills & Social Action.
We work with NCS to support the second challenge, providing young people with the opportunity to develop and master new skills. Staff have worked with these young individuals to develop their presentation skills and provide constructive feedback following a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style pitch.
