RAV4 is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hybrid petol This is my second Rav 4 the first one being a diesel. This version is a hybrid petrol. The design of the new Rav 4 is very similar to my previous rav4 with a few cosmetic changes to the exterior, the interior is again slightly different to the previous version but soon becomes natural to control the various functions. The vehicle handles well, very stable and pulls well. Although a hybrid, from cold the car runs on the petrol engine until it warms up. You can drive at nearly 40mph on the battery, but gentle control of the throttle is needed to keep this going, put your foot down a bit and the petrol engine kicks in, but this is a seamless transition, you can hardly tell the engine has taken over. Fuel economy, so far I've managed to get just over 44 mpg mainly from using the battery to and from work, my diesel Rav 4 ran at 47 mpg. There are 3 modes for the engine, battery, eco and sport, I tried the sport for a short distance only so far but you can feel the difference when you accelerate. The car is a little noisy when you accelerate hard but cruising along is very quite. i added deflectors to the front windows and this has cut down the noise which happens when only one window is opened, well worth the investment. All round vision is good and for those not used to a larger vehicle it is fitted with proximity sensors to help maneuver around object, the reversing camera is very clear, better than some others I've seen. The interior is roomy, even in the rear, as this car is an automatic my seat is right back and my 6 foot son still has plenty of leg room behind me, and those who have traveled in the back have said it is very comfortable. This version has adaptive cruise control, meaning it stays the same distance behind traffic if things start to slow down. There is a button on the steering wheel which can be used to reduce the gap between the vehicle in front, there are 3 gap settings. If the vehicles in front slow suddenly the car brakes quickly, but be careful it DOES NOT stop the car, it will reduce your speed to around 20 mph, YOU will need to brake to a STOP. Maintaining momentum using cruise control means reading the road well ahead and behind as you will need to pull out sooner to prevent the car from braking when it detects the car in front, or you can override this by accelerating your self. Another slight change from the previous version is that instead of speed going up and down in 1 mph increments it goes up and down in 5 mph increments, but if you set the cruise at 53 mph it stays at 53 mph if you push the cruise control up once the speed will go to 55 mph if you push it down it will drop to 50 mph. There is only one negative, but this is more my fault in assuming the boot would be the same as the diesel model. Because of the batteries being under the back seats they do not lay flat (as with the diesel). There is a small storage box at the back of the boot which is sloped to line up with the seats when tilted forward, this means that you can not push anything up against the back of the seats, unless it sits on top of something. It just caused me a problem as I carry training equipment which fitted perfectly in my diesel Rav's boot. Overall I am very happy with the car so far.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from My first Toyota I bought the RAV4 Hybrid 5 weeks ago. It isn't anything like as fuel efficient as I thought it was going to be. Although the garage had a sale on that includdd 3years service the week after I ordered, I agreed not to cancel and re order based on the assurance that Toyota would do the same deal after delivery- they didn't.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly good Having moved on from a Qashqai there are many differences to reflect upon. The RAV wins on economy, speed, acceleration and ride. It loses to the Qashqai on turning circle, technology, and practicalty of boot space. However, almost all our journeys are under 15 miles and for school runs it achieves a welcome improvement in consumption. Quietness is also admirable however, Toyota need to take a long hard look at the clever competition that they are up against.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for disabled people. Only had this car since January 2017 and it's already made a big difference to my life. Getting in and out is so much easier than a 'normal' car..as I can't bend down and struggled to get in and out of that type of car it got to the stage I wouldn't go out or even drive. Having the Rav has let me drive most times, being an auto makes a lot of difference plus the hybrid system increases the fuel consumption so I can go further on the same amount of fuel and although my previous car was diesel I can get nearly the same millage from the Rav and even more around town due to the hybrid system. The self opening boot helps big time getting my small scooter/wheelchair in and out. Great car and we'll recommended.Totally satisfied thanks to Stuart at SLM in St Leonards on Sea.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RAV4 Hybrid Excel I bought my RAV Hybrid at the end of December 2016, it's very comfortable, quiet and the ride quality is excellent. the car has plenty of leg room. I've done just about 1000 miles the car having been stationary for three weeks whilst we were away. So far it's returning about 40mpg overall, which includes a lot of short journeys and some long distance journeys. I love the car having upgraded from a diesel engine RAV4.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super cool I have only covered 40 miles so far, but the car has been well worth the twelve week wait. I am delighted this far

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product I like the driving position and the smooth quiet ride. Being higher off the ground than my previous car has given me greater confidence especially when driving at night

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our Fourth Rav 4 The fourth Rav 4 is our first Hybrid, my green credentials have improved and the carbon footprint has reduced a size or two. I am very satisfied with the power provided by the electric motor. My top of the range model has all the gadgets, in particular I have been impressed with the Toyota Safety Sense. The Safety Sense transforms cruise control operation and makes even the most tedious motorway journeys bearable. I still need help to connect via bluetooth to the mobile wi-fi, but dealer assured me he would help. Other likable features are LED lighting, drivers console display, automatic full beam dipping and Hybrid trims.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Frustration Have had the car a month but due to circumstances the vehicle has only 100 miles registered. First impressions good but how it rates against my Land cruiser time will tell. What is very frustrating is the handbook which is not very informative and the down loaded internet version is not all that easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected! After only 1 month I am extremely happy with my purchase. Not there yet with the expected mpg, but the installed systems are great in helping my driving to achieve the desired results - very easy to use & see. Great comfort, especially with my long legs! The drive assist system is really proactive and reassuring as I do approx. 25k miles pa, but you have to make sure you rely on yourself with system support, and NOT the other way around! Great to drive, good road holding, winter tyres have great 'grab'. BIG TIP: Make sure you save you're music onto the right flash drive - I saved onto an old USB flash drive and the car system got confused - the car manual has nothing on this and the web downloaded manual did not help either. I was told that the flash drive has to have the right formatting, but none of the manuals tell you what the right format is, you have to ask a Toyota fitter to format your flash drive! SOLUTION: I have Windows 10 on my home pc and bought a new USB Flash Drive off Amazon (only £7.99) that is windows 10 compatible and saved my music onto that. Works great in the car. TIP for those who are not too computer 'savvy' - save the music onto your pc and then onto the USB flash drive or get someone to do it for you. Even my 16MG flash drive will hold 000's tracks. No more hunting for cd's or forgetting to put the one(s) you want in the car, and takes up almost no space!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from my new RAV4 Hybrid Very pleased overall with the car....nice and smooth, everything works very well. * We turned off the automatic main beam feature as it was too slow to react sometimes, and also when we came up behind other vehicles. Also, we find it very hard to get anywhere near the mpg in the sales blurb. * Have had Toyotas before, and always pleased with them...this is no exception....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The missing item. As owner of 2 RAV's previously, very impressed with the hybrid version. The only complaint I have is the lack of a DIGITAL SPEED READOUT. The facility is available on most modern cars. Why not the RAV. I consider this is a safety feature, and very easy to incorporate in a prominent display position. How about a software upgrade to sort this out. Otherwise a great vehicle to drive and own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great versatile car, and even better as a hybrid I've had the RAV4 hybrid for just over a month, moving up from an Auris. I was a little nervous with how big it is initially, but it is very manoeuvrable and it's remarkable how quickly you get used to driving a large car from my Auris. I have been waiting for Toyota to produce a Hybrid RAV4 and they have done so beautifully with this car. It is very easy to drive, either on motorways or on the commute I am delighted with it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our Toyota Rav4 Hybred has lived up to its promise We have driven the Rav4 for one month, and have found it a very comfotable and enjoyal ride on long journies, it is also very economica on short trips to. The only snag we have found is that the wing mirror retracting switch should be illuminated as it is very difficult to locate at night, and if you retract the mirrors it reduces your visibility to see cyclists coming on the offside before you open the drivers door. It would be safer for them to retract when the driver locks the doors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best car I've ever driven Had my Rav 4 Business Edition Hybrid Automatic for six weeks now and have loved every minute of it. Such a joy to drive. Outstanding quality, really solid and the hybrid engine which frequently runs on battery rather than petrol. Fuel economy is wonderful - have only filled up once and have so far done just under 600 miles. Well appointed in every respect - an absolute stunner of a car much admired by friends and family. 100% pleased with my choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good allrounder I wanted a hybrid RAV a few years ago but Toyota only made it available more recently. I have to say it was worth the wait as it meets most of my requirements. Good space, good tech, good comfort and good service from the dealership.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal car for us. Bought RAV4 Hybrid at end of September and am very pleased with car. We part exchanged a RAV4 Petrol that had done 43,000 faultless miles and think this car will be even better. We have a large dog so the huge boot is a real benefit. Fuel economy is averaging 46.2 at present.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth as silk Have really enjoyed the first month of driving my new Rav 4. It's so quiet and silky smooth that it's a relaxing experience but with more than enough 'oomph' when required. I don't seem to be getting too close to the promised 65mpg but I'll keep trying!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First impressions I bought this car 3 weeks ago and am generally pleased with it but would make the following comments. The ride is quite stiff after my Avensis and the seats are not as comfortable. The boot space is smaller. I did not realise the batteries would restrict the space and prevent me from having a flat surface with the back seat folded. I did not appreciate all the additional options available. In particular I would have liked the blind spot monitor, and the heated steering wheel. I also miss having a CD player. On the benefit side we like the ease of access and higher driving position

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hybrid disappointed Car size and ride quality excellent, but no lights in glovebox and doorlock release switch are annoying omissions.Water and dew sits on top of rear lights, because theyou are flat on top. Hybrid system too sensitive and turns off very quickly, still learning but can never see fuel economy figure being achieved
