Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good car but general penny pinching lets it down I bought the car a month a go and am happy with the vehicle as this is my third Avensis from new. However disappointed with Toyotas penny pinching to save money as despite a £29000 plus vehicle (Excel) the interior/door handles are plastic and not very pleasing on the eye or ears. And although Toyota will sell it differently there is also no spare wheel but a pneumatic pump ( lets hope the battery holds its charge). Also no carpet mats and I do miss not having a CD Urban mileage is disappointing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very practical car I've had this Avensis for nearly a month, I'm more than happy with it. The fuel consumption is good and it rides nicely,it's quiet and got plenty of torque(diesel) looks good too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Third Avensis & best yet! This review should read 4 1/2 stars because I am totally pleased with the build, reliability & comfort of this model. My only criticism is the innovations on the dashboard. I can't see the time & temperature clearly (too small) and I consider the addition of the "current speed limit" display to be intermittent, often woefully wrong & positively misleading. When sold the vehicle I believed it was a great idea as I presumed (incorrectly) that it was linked to the satnav system, however I now understand it "takes a picture" of speed signs from the windscreen control unit, which is more often incorrect or inoperative. We have a school car park at the end of our road which displays a 5mph sign, the car display then relays that speed limit for the next few minutes. It will also "recognise" the speed limits displayed on the back of a lorry or miss some completely if the sign is dirty or at the wrong angle. All in all a totally inadequate and misleading "innovation". Otherwise a great car from someone who was converted to buy Toyota about 6 years ago!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just short of perfect. Everything about the new Avensis Business Edition Plus is first rate, with one exception. The multi-functional display unit/SatNav is incredibly slow at reacting in comparison to my previous model. It is extremely annoying each time you make an adjustment to the heating/ac; radio or make a call, the map is removed and the display appears for the mode you are using. The display unit on the dashboard is also extremely small and reading the time is an eyesight test! If I could have the dashboard from my previous Avensis, I would be very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A few critisisms We bought out Avensis on the 5th April, 2016 and have done 3200 miles, mostly in France. Overall we are very pleased with the comfort, looks, colour, economy, but have a few critisisms. This is the third Avensis Tourer we have had and rate this the best except for the following. The clock is so small and difficult to see when driving and the lack of the date is annoying. Taking the CD player out of this model is annoying especially for more mature people who do not have the modern gismos for their music. Our last critisism is that the speed warning is far to sensitive and when it is not important especially in France, it picks up the speed of all exits on the motorways when you are still travelling on the motorway itself which is quite off putting and confusing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Avensis Auto Tourer After almost three months of ownership I am enjoying use of this Avensis Auto Touring Sport 1.8 Business Edition Plus, which replaced an older Avensis T-Spirit Auto Hatchback. I would not say I fully understood it as it is a much more complex environment than in the 11 year old car. It is also longer which has taken some time to adjust to. It is very quiet compared with the older car, which for the hearing impaired is an excellent feature. Mine is a petrol model which seems to give (with 2000 miles on the clock) about 42 MPG on runs over 40 miles and about 25 MPG on short journeys of say 5 miles. One criticism (my only one) is of the lid on the boot which requires athleticism to put in and take out, and which has a lip which hangs down awkwardly if the boot has been filled by golf clubs, cart, bag etc. That said the space is large even if the lid is in and the rear seats are in place .i.e. Golf clubs etc. do not require the lid to be extracted.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it! This new Avensis is simply fantastic! It's comfortable, quiet, roomy, totally gorgeous to look at and has a very high level of equipment for the money. I do however have some minor criticisms. The electronic handbrake switch is in a quite ridiculous position and very awkward to use, the cruise control switch continuously catches the fingers while turning the steering wheel, there is no sunglasses holder and no heated windscreen. These are minor issues. The only major issue is that the built in satnav is stone cold useless! It never seems to know where the heck we are! These criticisms aside, I am very happy with the car and am delighted to have bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many Freatures I purchased the car 2 months ago and have only done 500 miles. It was strange at first not having a traditional handbrake to apply but it is fine once you get used to pressing a button to apply it. The mpg is brilliant on a trip to London it achieved 62 mpg a very impressive result. The reversing camera is brilliant but does take a few practices to get used to it. The auto stop is also a new feature which again takes some getting used to but can be overridden until you get used to it I still like the audible warning on my previous Avensis. The only thing I can give a negative response to is the volume of the speed camera warning, I have not yet managed to find out how to increase it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as my last Avensis Bad points. Does not have a proper handbrake. Button to operate electric brake is not in a convenient position. Not supplied with full size spare wheel. No rear wiper. Characters for time and outside temperature display too small. (I suspect this could be easily fixed with a firmware change.) Hatchback version not available. Good points. Retractable door mirrors. Good size screen for sat nav and other functions.
