Auris Hybrid

Auris Hybrid is the first full hybrid in its class. It features two electric motors and a 1.8 litre VVT-i petrol engine, working together to deliver powerful efficiency. Switch seamlessly and automatically between the power sources: drive electric-only, using petrol power or enjoy an intelligent combination of the two.

Around the world, above 2 million Toyota drivers already enjoy the benefits of Hybrid Synergy Drive® technology.

With the Auris Hybrid choose one of three driving modes. Electric Only (EV) offers silent, emissions-free driving; ECO mode gives optimum economy; choose Power mode for maximum response.

Energy for the electric motors is regenerated as you brake, so there's no need for manual charging or leads. It's also a rewarding, responsive and safe family hatchback.

Built in Britain, Auris Hybrid features low-maintenance and long-life components to reduce the cost of ownership, including exceptionally low emissions starting from 89 g/km** and great fuel economy starting from 74.3 mpg*.

Unique hybrid exterior and interior design features are available on the Auris Hybrid including unique alloy wheels, grille, bumper, LED daytime running lights, seat trim, eco driving display and transmission.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to switch between power sources?

No, the car automatically registers how you're using the throttle and decides whether to drive with the electric motor, petrol or both. All you do is drive normally, while the system seamlessly works behind the scenes.

Do I need to recharge the battery?

No, the new Auris with Hybrid SynergyDrive® charges itself, ingeniously gathering surplus energy generated by braking and the petrol engine.

Is the new Auris with Hybrid Synergy Drive® complicated to drive?

It's just like driving an automatic. Push the start button, press the accelerator and go. Our full hybrid technology is all about making life in the Auris hybrid as effortless as possible.

Does environmental efficiency mean a compromise on power?

At Toyota, we are dedicated to maximising both driving pleasure and efficiency - in equal measure. The 136 DIN hp engine provides powerful performance with world-class environmental credentials.

Are there any hidden costs I should know about?

None. In fact, Hybrid Synergy Drive® means you buy less petrol, there's no road fund licence to pay or Congestion Charge and maintenance costs are low. You will also benefit from a five-year warranty on the hybrid components and high resale values.

Is there a diesel hybrid version?

Hybrid Synergy Drive uses petrol hybrid technology.

Are all hybrid vehicles the same?

There are two main types: full hybrid and mild hybrid. Toyota's full hybrid technology is far more versatile because the electric motors and petrol engine can all work together to provide maximum performance and optimum efficiency. Uniquely, full hybrid also means you can run on electric alone and recover more otherwise wasted energy. Mild hybrid, in contrast, lacks this flexibility and therefore uses more fuel and generates more emissions.

When is the car launched?

The official launch date of the Auris Hybrid is 1st July. Please contact your Toyota Centre for more details in the meantime.
