The AYGO is fitted with up to 4 airbags. Every AYGO provides the reassurance of SRS driver and front passenger airbags, whilst AYGO+, AYGO Fire and AYGO Ice are also fitted with SRS side airbags.
ABS prevents the wheels from locking while braking. EBD complements this by optimising brake force distribution between each wheel. Together the two systems help the driver to maintain steering control under heavy braking.
In the event of frontal collision, energy is dissipated via the front wings, A pillars and reinforced doors towards the rear, absorbing stress through the body shell and preventing it from being concentrated in any single area. For side impacts, energy is diverted through the doors and cross-members in the roof and floor to the other side of the car.
A technology that maximises the engine’s performance by optimising the timing of air intake depending on whether you are; accelerating, cruising, or just idling.
The seating incorporates special anchor points – including a top tether that helps prevent the seat tipping forward – for a safe and convenient way of correctly securing ISOFIX child seats (available from your Toyota Dealer).
MultiMode uses the same mechanical components as a traditional manual transmission but with the addition of an electronically controlled clutch and shift mechanism. This does away with the need for a separate clutch pedal. The driver can switch between the convenience of an automated transmission and the directness of a manual gearbox with no reduction in economy.
There's no masking the liveliness of the 67bhp three-cylinder petrol engine, but the real achievement is how frugal it is. Matched with a crisp five-speed manual, it returns 65.7mpg (combined) and emits just 99g/km of CO2 - meaning your annual tax disc is free.
For even more rewarding urban driving , Toyota has fitted its quick-witted Multidrive MMT automatic, and happily, there's very little penalty on economy. The Multidrive version delivers 62.7mpg (combined) and CO2 emissions of 104g/km.
