The AYGO's 1.0-litre VVT-i petrol engine generates a maximum 68 DIN hp, taking the car from 0 to 62mph in just 14.2 seconds- a performance not often matched by similar small cars. At the same time, the AYGO returns a class-leading fuel consumption of just 61.4mpg* and tax efficient CO2 emissions from just 105g/km*. 5 speed manual transmission is available on AYGO, AYGO+, AYGO Blue, and AYGO Go!, and the 6-speed MultiMode transmission is available on AYGO+, AYGO Blue, and AYGO Go!.

Until now, drivers have had to choose between environmental efficiency and superior performance. Toyota Optimal Drive marks the beginning of a new era engineered to save you money. Lower emissions and better fuel economy can now be enjoyed alongside levels of power and torque that match and often exceed existing engines.
Is an independent assessment programme that evaluates the safety performance of new cars. Vehicles are awarded a score from one to five stars. Categories assessed are adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection and safety assist. The AYGO has been awarded four stars for adult occupant protection, four stars for child protection and two stars for pedestrian protection.
The AYGO is fitted with up to 4 airbags. Every AYGO provides the reassurance of SRS driver and front passenger airbags, whilst AYGO+, AYGO Blue and AYGO Go! are also fitted with SRS side airbags.
Optional SRS curtain shield airbags are available together with VSC for additional safety.
ABS prevents the wheels from locking while braking. EBD complements this by optimising brake force distribution between each wheel. Together the two systems help the driver to maintain steering control under heavy braking.
In the event of frontal collision, energy is dissipated via the front wings, A pillars and reinforced doors towards the rear, absorbing stress through the body shell and preventing it from being concentrated in any single area. For side impacts, energy is diverted through the doors and cross-members in the roof and floor to the other side of the car.
VSC automatically activates each individual brake as needed and controls engine output to help maintain stability and prevent skidding when turning sharply or driving on slippery road surfaces.

A technology that maximises the engine’s performance by optimising the timing of air intake depending on whether you are; accelerating, cruising, or just idling.
The seating incorporates special anchor points – including a top tether that helps prevent the seat tipping forward – for a safe and convenient way of correctly securing ISOFIX child seats (available from your Toyota Centre).

MultiMode uses the same mechanical components as a traditional manual transmission but with the addition of an electronically controlled clutch and shift mechanism. This does away with the need for a separate clutch pedal. The driver can switch between the convenience of an automated transmission and the directness of a manual gearbox with no reduction in economy.
