Toyota AYGO voted best City car 2010

The annual What Car?/JD Power Vehicle Ownership Survey delved into the experiences of more than 17,200 motorists and out of 104 models the Toyota AYGO scooped first place in the City car section. Its success is founded on low ownership costs and excellent mechanical reliability, scoring five stars in both categories by owners. Owners of the AYGO were also impressed with its cheap servicing bills, superb fuel economy and low insurance premiums, reporting fewer engine and transmission faults than on any other city car.

AYGO: Let Me Entertain You

Aygo By Toyota

Cool TV. Cool car. AYGO was made for T4

Thank goodness for T4, Channel 4's irreverent youth strand, that picks up your TV and shakes it senseless. Every week there's loads of music, chat, celebrities and shows, all lovingly chosen and beamed into your eyeballs by T4's expert panel of entertainment scientists. And what better car to partner this TV phenomenon than AYGO by Toyota? Its slick styling, space for four six-footers and nippy performance means that it's just about the most fun you can have on four wheels. The only big difference is that AYGO comes with a four-star safety rating. Certainly something that you won't want when it comes to your weekend's TV.

Clever design - Auto Trader

…the Aygo is so cleverly designed. Its lightness also means the buzzy little engine feels lively and that it tackles corners far better than you’d imagine.

AYGO pumps up its appeal

It seems that Toyota has adopted an "every little helps" attitude with the AYGO. The car is already the epitome of cheap motoring, but this face-lifted version will cut your costs even further. How? By cutting your fuel bills. Thanks to a couple of minor tweaks to improve the AYGO's efficiency, its already impressive fuel economy has been boosted from 61.4mpg to 62.8mpg, allowing you to get that little bit more from every tankful.

AYGO remains fresh

It's smaller than its rivals, while modern detailing gives a cheeky look. And with our Platinum variant's alloys and striking silver paint, it's still a classy choice. And although it simple glass tailgate is a cost-cutting measure, it also helps to mark the stylish Toyota out from the crowd. In range topping platinum trim, everything is colour coded, and a neat set of alloy wheels gives the design a classy edge. Elsewhere the standard AYGO shape is adorned with simple detailing and neat proportions.

Supermini

It's not big, but it is clever. Toyota's recently restyled AYGO has budget motoring all sussed out: it's cheap to buy, costs peanuts to run and will still be worth an impressive 56% of the list price when you exchange it three years down the line. You get driver and passenger airbags, a CD player, body-coloured bumpers and an adjustable steering wheel as standard. Toyota's new iQ might the trendier choice, but the AYGO is still pretty funky and should work out more than £2000 cheaper over three years.

City Cars

Another year, another win for the Toyota AYGO, as last year's class champ again claims the top spot. The little Toyota's success is founded on low running costs. Owners reported that every gallon goes a long way, and service bills are as small as the AYGO itself. When cars did need to visit the dealer, service was excellent. AYGO drivers praised the facilities, the staff and the quality of the work done in equal measure. Owners were also very happy with the car itself, especially the cute, distinctive looks. Strong scores were also awarded to the car's cabin. The AYGO picked up good marks for the way it drives too.

AYGO wins again

Another year, another class win for the tiny Toyota- that's three on the trot. The victory was tighter than last year though, and the AYGO managed only 31st place overall, compared with 13th in 2009. Owners waxed lyrical about its cheap servicing bills, superb fuel economy and low insurance premiums, and reported fewer engine and transmission faults than on any other city car. When things did need fixing Toyota dealers made the experience as painless as possible by carrying out the work to a high standard in pleasant services centres and treating customers in a polite manner.

Smaller cars lose the least in hard times

The Toyota AYGO was Britain's slowest depreciating car in 2008, according to car price guide experts Parkers. In its annual depreciation report, Parkers compared last January's new prices with what an owner could expect to get if they sold privately now. A buyer who got their hands on Toyota AYGO last year will now (in 2009) have lost just £1,515 over 12 months- the equivalent of £4 per day.

Saving money - Cliff

Bought this with my head to save money over the car my heart wanted. But now my heart feels happy I didn't take its advice, as it can see all the money I'm saving.

Best car I have ever had - Denis Griffin

I have had my 5 door AYGO for 15 months and without doubt it is the best car I have ever had. Will buy another after three years.

I highly recommend the AYGO - Shelly Timbs

I have just part exchanged my Blue AYGO for a White AYGO Go Air Con, what a fabulous car it is! Could not be more pleased with the service that Steve Way at the Westover Toyota Garage in Poole gave me! The original AYGO in Blue with Bluetooth was a brilliant little car, great economical and savvy car. Had no problems with the car and all the little extras you get from Toyota make so much difference, they really do go the extra mile! Excuse the pun! I highly recommend the AYGO for anyone who wants an economical car that is environmentally friendly and a pleasure to drive. It is by far the best small car in its category compared to other manufacturers.

Great little car - Nigel Fearn

I'm on my third AYGO and I must say what a great little car they are.

I tried it and loved it - Catherine Dickson

Well, I haven't got it yet, but it's ordered!!! I tried it, loved it, cant wait to get it!!! Fell in love with it when my friend bought one!! I was gutted when I was told it wasn't in an automatic, I cant clutch any more because of my spine damage and almost wept! Then I went into Toyota and asked, and he said YES to the automatic! And going off all these wonderful comments, I can't wait to get the best of the best! I only wanted a small car, and though the comments on the boot are more negative than positive, I have to say, it fits my wheelchair in!!! Very deceiving!!!

Extremely economical to run - Marina

Fantastic little car! Although the boot is small the back seats go flat to give lots of space if needed. I managed to fit in 10 bags of garden soil. Extremely economical to run, a tank of fuel seems to last forever. It looks stylish too. I like the dashboard when lit up at night. Only gripe I have is it's not that great driving in snow. Overall I am very happy with my little car.

Fabulous Car - Scott McCallum

Had my AYGO+ almost a year now and all I can say is what a fabulous little car is. Tremendous fuel economy, nippy performance, and that MMT gearbox is so smooth, the only way I can tell when it's changed gear is when the indicator number on the dashboard changes. All my friends and neighbours comment on the deep shine on the chilli red paintwork, mind you I am always washing it. Will certainly buy another AYGO when the PCP on this one expires in June 2012.

Just a dream! - Louise

Love my wee aygo blue its such a cute quirky car, fun to drive, very economical and just a dream!

Test Drive Event - Matt

Fantastic little car! We bought our little Aygo in February, its a Platinum. We get 65 mpg on a good day. I also love the handling and emissions of the car, just 108 g/kg of co2 is amazing if you ask me. We also have a Prius which is just as fansastic. We have always had Yaris's which have all been just as great too!

Cheers Toyota!

Everything I want - Christopher Fallows

Since I had my aygo vvti sport in may 2008 i haven't been happier. its got everything i want i.e bodykit, alloys, spoiler, leather seats, front fog lights, metallic paint and a centre exhaust which actually came with the car. even though its only a 998cc engine it is still nippy and its a real eye catcher. i would definatley recommend anyone who wants a little car with alot of features go for the little aygo. don't forget its 61mpg and £35 road tax (FOR THE YEAR).

Best ever - Carole Hollis

I got my Aygo Platinum in April. It is the best car I have ever had, the fuel economy and low insurance is fab. My only gripe, however, the glove box is now awaiting its fourth lid, it is the only shoddy piece of workmanship on the car.

Great economical car - Mr. M. Huelin

The Aygo is a great economical car that is fun to drive; and due to its compact size more often than not one is able to find a parking space. The boot is quite small, big enough for shopping for a few bags to go away, but not much else. Toyota seem to have done well with this little car. However, I was rather disappointed that the gear cable broke having done under 2000 miles and the vehicle less than a year old. It spent a week in the Toyota garage getting fixed.

It's fab! - Charlotte

i love my little car its fab!!

a little racing car - Lynsey

I have only owned my Aygo for 1 week. It is MMT(Multi Mode Transmission ) like a little racing car and it is fab!!!
Funky looks and nippy around town.
I dnt mind the lack of glovebox but wouold of liked somewhere for all my junk to be hidden.
Everything else is gr8 - a very high tech wee car for the money.

Ordered for October - Lynsey

Took another test drive from the local dealer (too short on the event day), and then ordered one for delivery in October. Many thanks to Alan who answered all our technical questions (very knowledgeable gentleman).

More space than you'd think - Sarah Lewis

I've had my Aygo for nearly two years and i love it, its fab, i've had a lot of small cars and this is by far the best.
I've got the 5 door versions and you'd be surprised how many people open the front door and ask me how they get it the back. Its small but there seems to be endless space inside!
And fuel economy is outstanding, i do 200 miles a week and £30 of petrol seems to last me ages.
I would highly recommend this car to anyone

Ideal for the city - Miss Katie Jones

I love my Aygo, it's fab! This is my 1st car and out all of the small vehicles on the market at the moment, I felt that the Aygo was the best value for money. The MP3 connection is brilliant, the sound quality is so clear and for a small car I was surprised by how many mod-cons it has. I have recommended the Aygo to all my friends and family and some of my friends have already made purchases. For living in London the Aygo is ideal!

Best car - David

Best car I have had - noticed rapid front tyre wear. They will need replacing at 10,000 miles :-(

I adore it! - Jo from Norwich

Have now had my Aygo automatic for 2 months and think it is the best car I have ever owned. It is really dinky and cute and I love driving it. It is really good value for money and am just so pleased with it. Only drawback for me is no glove box - I like tidying things away out of sight and so I don't like the open glove box but overall I adore it!

From Russia with love - KGB

You will not believe me, but we use a silver Aygo + 5 dr.in Russia and even here it is a perfect car. I wish it would be a little higher, as roads here are sometimes terrible, still I like how it goes, and in 1 month I did about 7000 km - Aygo proved that it's good.

super little runaround - Dave

Just taken delivery of my Chilli red Aygo. I have been driving an Aygo + for a few months - Its a fully marked up Police car!

Absolutely love the car. The spec could be a bit better, but for the money its a super little runaround and I will definitely be back for another when the time comes 60mpg, £11 per month to insure AND £40 annual road tax. What more could you want ??

All round fun - Bal

I passed my driving test years ago but did not start driving until this year. I purchased my Aygo back in Feb 2006 (my first car!) and I now love driving. I'm useless at parking but in the Aygo that doesn't matter any parking space is easy to get into. It's an all round fun car and the £40 road tax is fantastic.

Very impressed! - Corrine

Brought the special edition 3dr aygo im very impressed!! Looks good & drives good. Insurance is cheap, road tax is cheap, & petrol seems to last for ages. Car is all round brilliant, ideal first car, i would recommend it to anyone. It even comes with the ipod auxiliary port. Only downfall is the small boot- which may bother some but that doesnt bother me. Best car i ever driven!

Cheaper than a bike - Wing

Since i had the agyo 19th june 2006,the car been great, good performance, i been getting 53mpg. I never owned a small car before.but this car is a fun car. Good space for a small car, apart from the boot, at least the seats fold down. £40 road tax a year wow - its cheaper than a motor bike.

Can't stop smiling - Michael H.

A few weeks ago we took delivery of our new 5 door Aygo+. Since then we have not stopped smiling. On the school run the children get very excited when they are driven in the Aygo. They much prefer if to our other much bigger car! I have to say that we leave our main car in the garage and we fight to get a drive in the Aygo. We have never owned a small car before, but the Aygo has proved to be a very exciting drive and easily copes with the shopping, visits to the tip etc. and all for £8000
