Do I have to switch between power sources?
No, the car automatically registers how you're using the throttle and decides whether to drive with the electric motor, petrol or both. All you do is drive normally, while the system seamlessly works behind the scenes.
Do I need to recharge the battery?
No, the new Auris with Hybrid SynergyDrive® charges itself, ingeniously gathering surplus energy generated by braking and the petrol engine.
Is the new Auris with Hybrid Synergy Drive® complicated to drive?
It's just like driving an automatic. Push the start button, press the accelerator and go. Our full hybrid technology is all about making life in the Auris hybrid as effortless as possible.
Does environmental efficiency mean a compromise on power?

Are there any hidden costs I should know about?
None. In fact, Hybrid Synergy Drive® means you buy less petrol, there's no road fund licence to pay or Congestion Charge and maintenance costs are low. You will also benefit from a five-year warranty on the hybrid components and high resale values.
Is there a diesel hybrid version?
Hybrid Synergy Drive uses petrol hybrid technology.
Are all hybrid vehicles the same?
There are two main types: full hybrid and mild hybrid. Toyota's full hybrid technology is far more versatile because the electric motors and petrol engine can all work together to provide maximum performance and optimum efficiency. Uniquely, full hybrid also means you can run on electric alone and recover more otherwise wasted energy. Mild hybrid, in contrast, lacks this flexibility and therefore uses more fuel and generates more emissions.
When is the car launched?
